How is Office Depot managing sustainability
Walking the talk
As mentioned earlier, this Guide aims to assist you in your journey towards becoming a more sustainable business, particularly in terms of environmental performance. At Office Depot, we know how important it is to ‘walk the talk’, so what are we doing to become a more sustainable business ourselves?
Office Depot global strategy
Our global environmental strategy is focused on the business case for ‘green’ and aims to drive long-term economic value for our company. Our strategy has five pillars that support a business priority, which in turn is broken down into specific strategies, initiatives and objectives. The following diagram outlines our priorities:

Our vision and commitment in Europe
Here in the Office Depot European operations, we recognise the need to maintain a successful business, delivering value to our shareholders and to a wide range of other stakeholders. We are therefore committed to minimising the environmental and social impacts of our own activities and of the products and services we provide to our customers.
We aim to:
- Comply with all applicable environmental EU and local regulations
- Implement a long-term strategy that addresses the environmental and social impacts of our own operations, those within our supply chain and those within the product lifecycle of the products we sell
- Establish systems to manage our environmental impacts, set objectives and targets to monitor our performance, and review and report progress
- Manage our emissions to air, water and land, minimise our use of natural resources and materials, and reduce waste and increase recycling
- Encourage our stakeholders to address green issues and develop their own strategies
- Promote environmental product stewardship with our stakeholders
- Support customers and end-users to address environmental and social needs within their procurement processes
- Establish effective relationships and communication with both internal and external stakeholders, based on openness, trust and transparency.
